Out in the shiny night
the rain was softly falling
The tracks that ran down the boulevard
had all been washed away
Out of the silver light
the past came softly calling
And I remembered the times we spent
Inside the Sad Cafe

 

Oh,it seemed like a holy place
Pretected by amazing grace
And we would sing reght out loud
The things we could not say
We thought we could change this world
With words like "love" and "freedom"
We were part of the lonely crowd
Inside the Sad Cafe

We would meet on that beautiful
shore in the sweet by and by

 

Some of their dreams came true
Some just passed away
And some of them stayed behind
Inside the Sad Cafe

 

The clous rolled in and hid that shore
Now that Glory
Train,it don't stop here no more

 

Now I look at the years gone by
And wonder at the power that be
I don't know why fortune smiles on some
And let's the rest go free

 

Maybe the time has drawn the faces I recall
But things in this life change very slowly
if they ever change at all
There's no use in asking why
It just turned out that way

빗방울이 부슬부슬 뿌리고 창밖엔 어둠이 내렸어요
산책길을 따라 난 발자국들은 빗물에 씻기우고
가로등 불빛은 지나날을 떠오르게 해요
이 낡은 까페에서 우리가 같이 지낸 시간을 기억해요

 

이곳은 신의 은총으로 보호받는 곳과도 같았죠
말해선 안되는 것들을 소리높여 말하고
사랑과 자유라는 이름으로
세상을 변화시키리라 생각했었죠
우리는 까페안의 외로운 군중의 일부일뿐이었는데

 

또 조금후에는 저 아름다운 해변에서
비약을 꿈꾸며 즐거운 시간을 보냈죠
구름이 모여들어 해변을 가리고
이제 저 기차는 여기서 더 이상 멈추지 않아요
지나간 시간을 생각해보면
추억의 존재와 그 영향력에 경탄하게되요
행운이 왜 어떤 사람들에겐 웃음짓고
또 다른 사람은 그냥 지나쳐가는지 모르겠어요

 

그들의 꿈중에 어떤것은 실현되었고
또 어떤것들은 없어져 버렸죠
그들중 몇몇은 까페안에 여전히 남아 있어요

 

시간을 그리운 얼굴들을 만들어가요
그것들이 변하면 내 인생도 조금씩 변해요
왜 그러냐고 묻는건 아무 소용없어요
오늘밤 이 까페안에서 만나요
